Dr. Fernando Bueno Obituary
Dr. Fernando Bueno passed away peacefully at his home in Crystal River on June 15, 2016. He is survived by his children Maria and Alex, his brothers Jaime and Guillermo, and his nieces and nephews. He was born in Pasto, Colombia but called Florida his home for the past 35 years. After studying medicine at Javeriana University Medical School in Bogotá, he completed his residency in gastroenterology at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. He came to Florida in 1981 where he established his practice and was an active staff member at Citrus Memorial Hospital and Seven Rivers Regional Medical Center. He served as the Chief of Staff at both hospitals and was the President of the Citrus County Medical Society. His steadfast commitment to his patients brought him much joy and happiness.
Despite his various professional accomplishments, he always said his greatest achievement was raising his children. His unrelenting dedication to their happiness could be seen by all of those around him. Fernando could always be counted on to make you laugh, lend a hand when in need, and practiced kindness, patience, and thoughtfulness to every situation life brought to him. He was the life of the party and never met a dance floor he didn't like. Fernando loved to travel, and said his trip to Africa on safari with his children was a dream come true, as it was inspired by his boyhood love of the movie Tarzan. He also loved watching the sunset from his dock, going out on the water, watching soccer, and being up to date on the latest in politics and world events. He was truly special presence in this world.
All are welcome to attend services at St. Benedict's Catholic Church in Crystal River on Saturday, June 25th at 10am and a Celebration of Life ceremony at Citrus Hills Country Club, 505 East Hartford Street at 12pm. Brown Funeral Home & Crematory, Lecanto, FL, in charge of arrangements.
