Francis "Frank" W. Skiesgelas, 83, of Onset and Hernando, Florida, died January 27, 2018 at Beth Israel Hospital in Boston with his devoted wife of 56 years Saundra (Guidi) by his side. Raised in Dorchester, he was son of the late William and Sophie (Znotin) Skiesgelas and brother of Ellen McHugo of Canton and Adele Bryan of Bellingham.
A gifted trumpet player, Frank studied at The Boston Conservatory before enlisting in the U.S. Army and serving in Korea. He enjoyed a 39-year career at Raytheon Corp., where he met Saundra who he married in 1962. Before retiring to the Cape and Florida, he was a long-time resident of Bellingham and Ashland. Frank had many creative talents and the mind of an engineer - he was always building or revising something, even mentally redesigning the hospital gowns and medical equipment. His dry sense of humor was on display until the end.
Besides his wife and sisters, Frank is survived by three brothers-in-law: Paul Guidi and his wife Janet of Harrison, ME; Arthur Guidi of Punta Gorda, FL; and Gary Guidi of Mashpee, MA. He is also survived by 11 nieces
and nephews, four godchildren, and many friends.
Celebration of Frank's life will be held at The Brookside Club, 11 Brigadoon Rd, Bourne, on
February 10, 2018 at 1PM.
