Frank Marten Cornwell, of Citrus Springs, Florida died peacefully at Baptist Health Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky on June 2, 2016 at the age of 71. Frank was born December 9, 1944, in Mercer County Kentucky to Richard and Ruby Cornwell. He graduated from Fern Creek High School and immediately enlisted in the Marines.
He retired from the Marines after 20 years as an Avionics Maintenance Chief and served honorably. After leaving the Marines, he relocated to upper state New York and then to New Hampshire where he worked for BAE systems until retirement. He and his wife, Yvette, eventually moved to Citrus Springs to be close to grandchildren. Frank was deeply devoted to his wife and family. He had a dry wit, was always willing to help, could fix anything mechanical and had a constant, contagious smile on his face.
Frank is survived by sisters, Kathy Dearner (Bill) and Margaret Brown (Jim); sister-in-law, Charlotte Cornwell; and 11 step-children and step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Yvette; parents and brother, Bill Cornwell. A service will be held at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell Florida on August 19, 2016 at 11:00 am.
