Fred R. Kwasnik, age 90, of Crystal River, FL, passed away December 28, 2016 at Citrus Hills Health and Rehab. Fred was born on February 17, 1926 in Garfield, NJ to Michael and Mary (Burek) Kwasnik. He served in the Army during WWII , 760th Field Artillery, 38th Army 11th Corp and the 6th Army 14th Corp, serving in the Pacific Theater , Layte and Luzon, Philippines and Zama, Japan. Fred received his education from New York University School of Public Administration and Social Service, International Academy Incorporated and AT&T School of Technology. Fred was a retired System Liaison Specialist for the U.S. Postal Service. He proudly served as president of the American Postal Workers Union AFL-CIO # 7067 negotiating Union Contracts at the national level for 8 years. Fred and his wife Doris moved to Citrus County in 1992 coming from Dallas, PA. He was a member of St. Anne's Episcopal Church in Crystal River, FL and participated in many Medowcrest activities, especially "Showtime". He was a Mason for 60 years; Past Master of Alexander Hamilton Lodge #222 F&AM and member of the Genesis Lodge #88 F&AM both in NJ, Scottish Rite of Scranton, Pa. and a Shriner of Irem Temple, Dallas, PA.
Fred was preceded in death by Doris, his wife of 59 years, in 2010 and infant daughter. Survived by three children, Barbara Schmidt (Michael), Evelyn Walker (Harold), Carole Kwasnik, grandchildren, Jonathan (Julie) Walker and Matthew (Megan) Schmidt; one great granddaughter, Ava Walker. three sisters-in-laws, Elaine Shrank, Eleanor Kwasnik and Dorothy Kwasnik, several neices and nephews. Family will be receiving friends on Friday, December 30, 2016 from 10 a.m. until 12 noon and from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home in Lecanto, FL. Private cremation will follow and a Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday December 31st at St. Anne's Episcopal Church in Crystal river, FL. Burial will follow at the church columbarium. In lieu of flowers please make memorial donations to St Anne's Episcopal Church or Hospice of Citrus County.
