Gail Hackney Youngblood Obituary
Gail Hackney Youngblood passed away peacefully on October 15, 2015.
Gail, also known as "Tissy" was a Florida native born on June 26, 1935, to the late Ray and Addie (Baker) Hackney in Largo. She graduated in the class of 1953 from Largo High School. There she met and married her high school sweetheart "Sonny" Youngblood. They moved to Clearwater and raised three children, Ronnie, Kelly and Jill.
She was employed by General Electric until her retirement in 1981. Tissy then moved to Homosassa, or as she called it, "my piece of heaven." It was there that she spent her days on her pontoon boat on the river and loved swimming in the springs with the manatees. She loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter. She enjoyed sitting in a tree stand and being in the woods with her grandson Cole. She hunted every season until she was 78.
Tissy had a passion for life. She loved to travel, dance, play cards, the beach, Gator football and shopping! Oh, did she Love to shop!! Age did not slow her down. At 76 she went sky diving, along with zip lining, kayaking, snorkeling and even weight lifting classes. She will be remembered for her beautiful bright smile, her genuine love of family and her loyalty to friends.
Gail was preceded in death by her parents, husband of 43 years Sonny, brother Dickie Hackney and her beloved daughter Kelly Rae Allison. Left to treasure the memories of her life are her brother Tom Hackney, son Ronnie, his wife Patty, their children Cole and Casey, son-in-law Richard Allison, children Matt and Zach, daughter Jill, her husband John LaFleur and their children Joseph and Jacob, and her companion of 14 years, Dale Smith. She will also be missed dearly by aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and all those who had the pleasure of knowing her.
A very special and heartfelt thank you to everyone for the cards, visits, love and constant prayers that Tissy was blessed to receive this past year and a half. She felt very loved and was grateful to all!
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at the Homosassa Chapel of Hooper Funeral Homes on Sunday, November 1, 2015, at 3:00 pm. Online condolences may be sent to www.HooperFuneralHome.com.
