Maj. George Hoke Obituary
Maj. George J. Hoke, USAF (ret), 86, of Homosassa, FL, passed away on Wed., May 4, 2016 at his home. A native of E. McKeesport, PA, he was born June 19, 1929 to George J. and Elizabeth (Quinn) Hoke, oldest of four children. George proudly served his country for 27 years, beginning with a four year enlistment in the U.S. Navy. He then enjoyed a 23 year officer's career in the U.S. Air Force, serving as a pilot and enduring two tours in Vietnam, retiring at the rank of Major.
George moved to Citrus County in 1977 from Vacaville, CA and held memberships in Service to Mankind (SERTOMA) and American Legion. He enjoyed traveling, reading, golf, fishing and boating and loved his experience of restoring his 1963 turbo charged Corvair. He also enjoyed being an active member of the Sugarmill Woods Golf and Country Club. George is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Gayle Hoke of Homosassa; daughter Cinda Rudolph (husband Gregg), Minneapolis, MN; daughter-in-law Angie Hoke, Charlotte, NC; grandson Scott Hoke ( wife Inez), Charlotte, NC; granddaughters Rebecca and Rachel Rudolph and grandson Bradley Rudolph, all of Minneapolis, MN and brothers Thomas Hoke (wife Arlene), Atlanta, GA and Robert Hoke (wife Judy), Baltimore, MD.
In addition to his parents, George was also preceded in death by a son, Terence Hoke; a grandson, David Hoke; and a brother Michael Hoke. A celebration of George's life at Wilder Funeral Home, Homosassa, FL will be announced at a later date.
