The Service of Remembrance for Mr. George S. Mogus, Sr., age 83, of Inverness, Florida, will be held 11:00 AM, Monday, November 18, 2013 at the Inverness Chapel of Hooper Funeral Homes with Pastor Donnie Seagle officiating. Cremation will be under the direction of Hooper Crematory, Inverness, Florida. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM, Monday at the Inverness Chapel. Mr. Mogus was born November 25, 1929 in Fairhope, Ohio, son of Joseph and Mary (Majetic) Mogus. He died November 13, 2013 in Inverness, FL. He worked as a stationary boiler engineer and moved to Inverness, Florida from Canton, Ohio in 1989. He was a 33rd Degree Freemason and volunteered for Habitat for Humanity and many other volunteer organizations including a volunteer firefighter and auxiliary policeman. He enjoyed playing golf, fishing and camping. Mr. Mogus was a member of First Baptist Church of Inverness.
He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 brothers, Joseph Mogus and Michael Mogus. Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Blanche Mogus of Inverness, FL, daughter, Cathy (Ken) Stephen of North Canton, OH, 4 sons, Phil (Gina) Mogus of Uniontown, OH, Dan (Lori) Mogus of St. Louis, MO, George S. (Karen) Mogus Jr. of MT and Tom (Lee Ann) Mogus of Canton, OH, 3 sisters, Anna Bush of Canton, OH, Mary Warner of Massillon, OH and Toots Steigerwald of Canton, OH, cousins, Jim Mogus and Jane Tuttle, 13 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
