Helen Louise Murphy, 97, of Inverness, died Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2012, at her residence under the loving care of her family and Hospice of Citrus County.

Helen was born on May 19, 1915, in Imlay City, Mich., to the late Findlay and Olive Detweiler. Helen was a homemaker and teacher. She taught disabled children, a job she enjoyed very much.
Survivors include son, Ronald (Beverly) Murphy, Punta Gorda, Fla.; daughter, Linda (George) Zick, Hernando, Fla.; brother, John Detweiler, Berkley, Mich.; nine grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Murphy; two sons, Clifford and Robert; and her siblings, Donald Detweiler, Orthabelle Wood, Dorothy Jones and Betty Jewell.
A Funeral Service of Remembrance will be Sunday, Aug. 26, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Bushnell. The family will receive friends in visitation from 1 p.m. until the hour of service. The family requests donations to Hospice of Citrus County, P.O. Box 641270, Beverly Hills, FL 34464, in lieu of flowers to help them continue their wonderful care of others as they did for Helen.
