James Julius Rutkowski
Age 84, recently moved to Brighton MI from Homosassa FL, passed away surrounded by his family on January 16, 2017.
Jim was born May 22, 1932 and raised in Detroit MI, the son of Aloysius and Sophia (Wolski) Rutkowski.
He graduated from Chadsey High school. He continued his education and graduated from Henry Ford Community College, with an Associate's Degree, Wayne State University with a Bachelors' Degree, and from University of Michigan with a Master's Degree.
Jim started his career as a teacher in the Detroit Public Schools and finished it retiring in 1988 from Oakland Community College as a guidance counselor.
On November 28, 1953, he married his High School sweetheart Henrietta Wietecha in Detroit.
Jim was a proud father of seven children and enjoyed seeing his family grow. He enjoyed singing, and often joined the choir group as a member of the Catholic Church. He also enjoyed golfing, classic cars, and investing in the stock market.
He leaves his wife Henrietta of 63 years; children: Karen (Kelly) Piccirillo, Jim (Judy), Sharon (David) Howitt, John (Vivian), Susie (Matt) Raymond, Michael (Suzanne), and Raymond (Deborah); 22 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, his brother Raymond (Arlene) Rutkowski and his sister Marie (Maurice) St.Germain. He was preceded in death by his brother Alfred (Josephine) Rutkowski and sister Dorothy (Frank) Orlos.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 22, 2017 from 2:00 – 4:30 P.M with a celebration of life from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. at the Keehn Funeral Home, Brighton.
Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Monday, January 23, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Parish, Pinckney, with visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the church. Memorial contributions are suggested to Arbor Hospice or with envelopes at the funeral home.
