Joanna Blanton Obituary
Joanna Blanton, age 72, passed away peacefully at her home in Hernando, Florida on October 20, 2015 with her husband, John, by her side as he lovingly cared for her throughout her battle with cancer.
Joanna was born in Bartlesville, OK on July 21, 1943 to J.B. and Georgia Sanderson. She received her education in Bartlesville and was employed by Phillips Petroleum Co. in the summer of 1971. She later transferred to the Phillips Petroleum Co. in Pasadena, TX. Joanna was very active in Jane Phillips Society, serving as President and holding various other offices. She treasured her JPS friends and attending the JPS conventions, even attending this past year in Texas. With homes in both Hernando, FL and Bartlesville, OK, John and Joanna enjoyed making many trips in their RV to visit family and friends.
Joanna is preceded in death by two sons, Michael and Gregory, parents J.B. and Georgia Sanderson, three brothers, Lloyd Sanderson, Clyde Sanderson and Gary Sanderson. Joanna is survived by her family, Lori Blaine (John), Steven Stockton (Kristal), Sarah Bass, Matthew Blanton (Marilyn), Kevin Doherty, Mark Doherty (Denise), Kelly Garst, and Stephen Doherty (Sara); 22 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Also surviving one sister, Joyce Lopez and one brother, David Sanderson (Janis).
A gathering of family and friends in visitation will be held on Friday, October 30, 2015 between 5:00 - 6:00 PM at Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell. A Memorial Service in Bartlesville will be scheduled later, around Thanksgiving. In lieu of flowers, the family requests making a donation to a cure for cancer fund of your choice.
