Joel I "Buddy" Harbison III Obituary
Joel I. "Buddy" Harbison III, 69, formerly of Homosassa, passed away Sunday, December 13, 2015, at his home in Archer, FL.
Buddy was born November 29, 1946, to the late Joel I. Harbison, Jr. and Beatrice Winfrey Harbison in Orlando, FL. He was the second born of seven children. He was a U.S. Army Veteran.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his oldest sister, Alice Harbison Klein, recently deceased on April 13, 2015.
Being part of a very large and close family was one of Buddy's greatest pleasures. He always enjoyed all the family gatherings, especially Thanksgiving and Christmas Eve. Christmas Eve won't be the same without Buddy and Alice. We will all share our memories on that special day.
Buddy spent the last 13 years living with his former wife, companion and caregiver, Janet McMahon. Buddy thought of her three children as his own. His stepson, Edward McCallister, was his best friend and also his caregiver for the past 13 years.
He leaves behind two stepdaughters, Robin and Kim and their families. Other surviving family members are brothers Scott Harbison, Danny Harbison (Dorie) and Wayne Harbison (Kim); sisters Janice Ayers (Alfred) and Betty Jo Robinette, recently widowed, and all their families, as well as many dear friends with whom he enjoyed his Celebration of Life and Birthday Party last year. This is how he wanted to be remembered.
Strickland Funeral Home with Crematory of Crystal River is assisting the family with private arrangements.
