John "Jim, J.J." Bard Obituary
John ("Jim, J.J.") Bard, of Crystal River passed away April 15, 2017 with family by his side. He was born on November 8, 1942 in Norristown, PA. Jim was a Prudential Life Insurance Agent for 30 years before retiring. He was a charter member of the Citrus Sertoma Club. He served and held many offices within the club, including Governor of NW Florida. His favorite fund raising function was the Citrus Oktoberfest. He served on many boards including 15 years for the County and Development Commission, C.H.I.P.S. (Speech and Hearing) and on the Crystal River Planning and Development Commission. He was also a board member at his timeshare, Tropic Sun Towers in Ormond Beach. Jim was an avid reader and collector of books. He enjoyed watching NASCAR races, boating, going on cruises to the East and West Caribbean and traveling to Europe. His favorite vacation of all was the trip to Alaska. But most of all he really enjoyed spending time with friends and family, especially when it was being with the grandchildren.
He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Carla of Crystal River, his mother Florence Bard of Homosassa, aunt Elsie Weaver of Douglasville, PA, son Jimmy Bard (Anita) of Homosassa, daughter Judith Foxworth of Las Vegas, step daughters Rhonda Clancy (Tim) of Winter Garden, Rachael Langley (Bill) of Lecanto, brother Clifford Bard (Mickey) of Clermont, niece Karen Hinegardner (Michael) of McKinney, TX, nephew Clifford Bard, Jr. of Winter Haven, several grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as many cousins and loving friends.
Private cremation arrangements are under the direction of Strickland Funeral Home of Crystal River. A celebration of life will take place with a balloon release by Eternal Ascent Society at 6 PM on May 13th at the Roger Batchelor Pier at Ft. Island Gulf Beach with a reception to follow.
