The Service of Remembrance for Mr. John Cornell Adams, age 87, of Inverness, Florida, will be held 11:00 AM, Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at the Inverness Chapel of Hooper Funeral Homes with Pastor Stan L. Stewart officiating. Interment will follow at Red Level Cemetery, Red Level, Florida. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM, Wednesday at the Inverness Chapel of Hooper Funeral Homes. The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of memorial donations to Hospice of Citrus County P.O. Box 641270 Beverly Hills, FL 34464. He was born March 8, 1929 in Fort Wayne, IN. and died March 12, 2016 in Inverness, FL. under the loving care of his family and hospice. Mr. Adams served in the US Army during the Korean War in the 1st Calvary Division. John worked as a Freight Conductor for Conrail Railroad for 36 years before retiring in 1985. For twenty years John enjoyed traveling with his wife, Joy in their RV before moving to Inverness, Florida in 2000. Mr. Adams was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather and will be dearly missed by his family who stated that "God took our special Angel home to be by his side and our lives will be incomplete until we are reunited with him again".
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 34 years, Bettie "Joy" Adams of Inverness, FL, 2 Sons: Bruce (Jody) Gaskins, and Jody (Barbara) Gaskins all of Inverness, FL, daughter, Kathy Wood of Inverness, FL, Honorary Daughter, Jeannie Bergstrom of Inverness, FL, brother, Eli (Marilyn) Adams of Naples, FL, sister in law, Fay White of Orange Park, FL, 5 grandchildren, Matthew Gaskins, Nathan (Dawn) Gaskins, Lisa Smith, Linda (Derek) Ritli, and Matthew Harriman, 5 great grandchildren: Nathan Gaskins, Avery Gaskins, Skyla Smith, Evan Smith and Jace Ritli, 3 Honorary grandchildren: Kaitlyn, Savannah and Connor Gardner and numerous nieces and nephews. Arrangements are under the direction of the Hooper Funeral Homes & Crematory.
