John David Horvath, 88, Inverness, FL passed away January 4, 2016 under the care of HPH Hospice in Lecanto, FL. He was born on November 10, 1927 in Holiday's Cove, W. VA to the late William and Amelia (Ulika) Horvath.
John was a U.S. Army, WWII veteran, and worked as a foreman with National Steel Co., being an employee for 37 years. He arrived in this area in 1990, coming from Spring Hill, FL and was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Inverness. His memberships include: life member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 6391; American Legion Post #77, Inverness; and he served as a former board member of the Royal Oaks Homeowners Association.
John enjoyed woodworking, playing cards, going to the beach, and spending time with his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Norma Jean Horvath. Other survivors include his children David Horvath and his spouse Susan , and Daniel Horvath, all of Greensboro, N.C., and Diane Horvath and her spouse Khlaire of Toronto, Canada; 3 granddaughters, Maren, Natalie, and Heather; and 3 great-grandchildren, Andrew, Madison, and Brody. Other survivors include a nephew, Robert Horath, and a niece, Marion Horvath Pilot. He was preceded in death by brothers Michael and Samuel Horvath, and a sister, Catherine Horvath.
A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Mon., 10:00 A.M. at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church. After the Mass, John's urn will be laid to rest at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL, with military honors. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to "Helping Hands", in care of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church, or to HPH Hospice, 3545 N. Lecanto Hwy., Beverly Hills, FL 34465.
