John J. Galzerano Jr., 66, a 32-year resident of Homosassa from Margate, Fla., died Tuesday, Sept. 4, 2012. John was born in Paterson, N.J., to John and Mary Ann (Cormier) Galzerano. He lived in New Jersey until his family moved to South Florida and he graduated from McArthur High School in Hollywood, Fla.
He served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War aboard the USS Bon Homme Richard, an Essex-class aircraft carrier. He married Ellen Abel in 1967 and their union was blessed with four children: Cheryl, Paul, Dawn and John III. He was preceded in death by his wife Ellen in 1973 and his parents. In addition to his four children who survive him, he also leaves nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; his sister Sandra; his dear Aunt Margie; uncles; many cousins; and two nephews.
Funeral service of remembrance will be held on Saturday, Sept. 8, at 5 p.m. at Wilder Funeral Home, Homosassa, Fla., with Pastor Louis Abel officiating. Interment will be private in South Florida. Friends will be received on Saturday from 3 p.m. until time of service.
