On Saturday, September 9, 2017, John Ryan of Dunnellon died, leaving behind his wife of 24 years, Lynda; daughter, Holly Dimmick; step-daughter Kim Farrand and two granddaughters; outliving two daughters and first wife.
He was born in Honolulu, Hawaii and at 11 years old experienced the attack on Pearl Harbor. He served in the Air Force, had a BS degree from UCLA, was involved in lunar moon landing, and was part of the team that built the medical school at Texas Tech.
After helping elect Ronald Regan as President, he was appointed to commissioner's office of Health and Human services. In lieu of flowers, his family prefers donations be made to Unity of Citrus (home of his Toastmaster's Club), 2628 W. Woodview La., Lecanto, FL 34461. A celebration service will be held at Unity on 9/23/17 at 2:30 PM.
