We are saddened to announce the passing of John Silvio Vincelli. John is survived by his wife Marianne Vincelli of 50 years, His four children: Stephen Vincelli (Kristin) and their children: Nicolas, Isaac; Stephanie Bell (Jeffrey) and their children: Alayna, Noah, Wyatt, Lily; Michael Vincelli (Niki) and their child Raina; Matthew Vincelli and his child, Madelynn Rose. He is also survived by his brother, Peter Sarubi and sister Anna Vincelli.
John was a cancer survivor. He worked for the Department of Children and Families for 34 years and was a champion of the Right to Life. John loved his wife, children and family and impacted everyone he came into contact with in a positive way. John had a giant heart and spent and most of his free time helping those in need. Despite his best efforts John was unable to recover, after injuries sustained in a tragic car accident in November of 2017. John will be remembered for many things but most significantly his positive attitude, faith in God, love of family and his passion for helping people. The Celebration Of Life service for John will be held at the Inverness Church of God on Tuesday, February 6th 11:00 AM. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 AM until service time.
Born in Wampsville NY April 15,1946, he was 71. John was married to the love of his life, Marianne for over 50 years. He graduated from Western Kentucky in 1968, and moved to Inverness in 1970 to start a family. John cherished his family above all else and loved spending his time with his grandchildren. John was passionate about doing everything he could to save the lives of the unborn from abortion, and deliver the good news of the Gospel every day.
John and his wife Marianne, two of the co-founders of The Pregnancy and Family Life Center in 1982 located on Tompkins Street. He was a political director of the Citrus County Right to Life for over 20 years. John would call local and state legislators with petitions and travel to local churches and community rallies for speaking engagements.
A child abuse investigator for 34 years with DCF, still to this day he would be approached and thanked in public, by individuals whom he saved from abusive households. He was a faithful member of the Inverness Church of God and Gideons Bible organization helping to distribute New Testaments across the County. John was star of the Fatman basketball challenge which was a yearly fundraiser for the Juvenile Justice Department and was known for his 30 foot jump shot. During the holidays you could find him at the market ringing the Salvation Army bell and spreading the good news of the Gospel, or dressing up as Santa Claus, visiting children who were less fortunate. After he retired from the State of Florida he became a process server for local attorneys which he worked until his last days.
