Johnny Emory Cason Jr., 81, of Inverness, died Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012, surrounded by his family and friends and Hospice of Citrus County staff. A lifelong native of Inverness, he was born May 30, 1931, to the late Johnny E. Cason Sr. and Ruth (Baker) Cason. Johnny worked at many venues, but enjoyed farming the most. He was an avid outdoorsman, fishing, hunting and taking care of his dogs. He liked being around people and was known as a jokester. At the time of his death, Johnny had designed and was helping build his own new home.

Left to cherish his memory are his companion of 12 years, Penny Prentice of Inverness; his daughter, Ruth "Noreen" Hancock of Inverness; his brother, William Cason of Texas; his sister, Lillian Hughes of Brooksville, Fla.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Emory John Cason, and his daughter, Vickie Galpin.
Visitation, funeral services and burial are private and by invitation only. Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements. The family requests donations to Hospice of Citrus County, P.O. Box 641270, Beverly Hills, FL 34464 in lieu of flowers.
