Joseph Brock Haste Obituary
Joseph Brock Haste, 86, died Monday, June 20, 2016 at Hospice House of Citrus County in Lecanto, Florida following a brief illness. He leaves his beloved wife of 59 years, Nancy (Scott) Haste; his daughters Anita Marie Dickerson of Arnold, MD. Patricia and her husband Wayne Walker of Lecanto, FL., Pamela and her husband Terray Wood of Doylestown, PA., and Susan and her husband Edward (Ted) Girard of Rockville, MD., one son William Scott Haste and his wife Lisa of Severna Park, MD., one sister Grace and her husband James Dendy of Albany, GA., 11 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and many close friends. Joe was predeceased by his brother Robert Andrew Haste.
Joe was born in Edenton, N.C.on March 25, 1930, the son of the late Joseph and Grace (Brock) Haste. He was raised in North Carolina and Maryland. Joe was a resident of Lanham, Maryland as well as Arnold, Maryland. He and his wife later lived in Cashier, North Carolina and finally moved to Crystal River and Lecanto, Florida.
After graduating from Sherwood High School in Maryland in 1948, he served as a Supply Sergeant in the U.S. Army. Later, he attended American University in Washington, DC. He met his wife; Nancy at his sister's wedding and was married on February 2, 1957. Mr. Haste worked for Citizens Bank of Maryland and started with them in the mailroom and later became Senior VP of Operations.
He retired from the bank after 40 years. Joe not only took pride in the banking business and his career, but truly relished the friends he made during this time.
Mr. Haste was devoted to his wife, and adored his children and grandchildren.
He loved to travel, read, and dance and was an avid Washington Redskin fan. Joseph was a member of the Rotary Club of Olney, The Heart Association, United Givers Fund, and the American Red Cross. Family and friends may gather at Fero Funeral Home at 5955 N. Lecanto Highway, Beverly Hills, FL. on Friday, June 24, 2016 from 6 to 8 PM.
A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, June 25, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the Fero Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Fero Memorial Gardens. The family requests that memorial donations be made in his name to the Hospice of Citrus and the Nature Coast, 3350 W. Audubon Park Path, Lecanto, FL., 34461.
