Joseph G. Krajewski Obituary
Joseph G. Krajewski, age 89, of Inverness, FL, died February 2, 2016 surrounded by his loving family while under the care of Hospice of Citrus and the Nature Coast. Joseph was born in Enfield, CT on May 17, 1926 to the late Joseph J. and Leza (Sage) Krajewski. A World War II veteran, he proudly served in the United States Navy submarine service from 1944 to 1946.
After his military service, Joseph worked in law enforcement as a Connecticut State Trooper for 22 years. On November 6, 1977, he married Mary Wahlstedt, with whom he shared 38 wonderful years of marriage. After his retirement, they relocated from Suffield, CT to Inverness, FL where they resided for the past 14 years. Joseph was a lifetime member of the Floral City, FL VFW Post #7122 and a member of the Connecticut State Police Academy Alumni Association. A man of faith, he attended services at the Floral City First United Methodist Church. Joseph loved music. He played harmonica and bass guitar over the years. Joseph and his wife Mary enjoyed singing together and once sang the National Anthem at Tropicana Field for a Rays baseball game.
He was an advanced licensed ham radio operator and loved fishing and boating in his spare time. Joseph also built and raced mini stock cars. He loved spending time with his wife and best friend, Mary who will greatly miss him. Others left to mourn his passing and cherish his precious memory are his daughter, Susan Hammer of Fairfield, CT; his son, James (Judy) Krajewski of Wilbraham, MA; three stepsons, Richard (Debbie) Slamon of Winston Salem, NC, Ronald Slamon of Windsor, CT, and S.M. Slamon of Seattle, WA; his sister, Joyce Cassells of Madison, AL; four grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild, Chase Raimer. He was preceded in death by his brother, Francis.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be conducted on Monday, February 8th, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. from the Floral City First United Methodist 1884 Church with Reverend Mary Gestrich officiating. The family will receive friends in visitation from 9:00 a.m. until the hour of service. Private inurnment will take place at West Suffield Congregational Cemetery, Suffield, CT at a later date. Arrangements under the direction of the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness, FL.
