Joseph T. Grunwald, 99, Lecanto, passed away Dec. 5, 2015, at Hospice of Citrus & The Nature Coast in Lecanto.
Mr. Grunwald was born Dec. 8, 1915, in Brooklyn, NY, to the late Joseph and Mary (Brandejsky) Grunwald and moved to Citrus County from Palm Harbor, FL, 5 years ago. He previously resided on Long Island, NY, and retired from the U.S. Postal Service as a Branch Supervisor.
He was of the Catholic Faith. For 77 years, he was a member of the Baldwin, NY, Fire Department, Hose Company Three, always speaking with pride of this 33 years of active service.
Joe always exhibited a great sense of humor and he enjoyed golfing, fishing, boating, bowling and most of all, his family.
He is survived by 2 sons, Richard Grunwald and his wife Suzanne Evenson of Inverness; Lawrence Grunwald of Apopka, FL; his brother, Walter Grunwald; 7 grandchildren, Kristin, Keith, Laura, Kevin, Michael, Tony, and Beth. He also had 16 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Marjorie (Hults) Grunwald, and his daughter, Marjorie Jenson.
Services will be under the direction of the Fullerton Funeral Home of Baldwin, NY, with burial to follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery of Cutchogue, NY. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Hospice of your choice.
