Joseph Louis Granata Obituary
Joseph Louis Granata, 81, of Homosassa Springs, Florida passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 16, 2017 at Seven Rivers Regional Medical Center. He was born November 21, 1935 in Niagara Falls, New York to Joseph and Josephine Granata. Joseph was his sons' boy scout troop leader in their younger years, moving on to teaching them the art of mechanics as he enjoyed building classic cars with them for shows. He also enjoyed wood-working, drawing and cooking for family gatherings. After a long career, Joseph retired as a foreman from the local gas company to a quiet life in the country in a home he and his children built together. There, he and his wife Mary enjoyed raising horses, chickens, cows, and peacocks among other animals on their 10-acre farm. Joseph was an asset to his community, often working with his wife to supply the Homosassa Civic Association with donations to help the less fortunate.
Joseph is remembered with love by his five children, Joel Granata (Jennifer), Jayme Granata, Jerry Granata (Michelle), Joseph Granata (Kelly), Kimberlee Lamb (David); his grandchildren, Jennifer, Joseph, Megan, Sierra, Gabrielle and Joselynn; his step-children, Mark Ouellette (Catherine), Ronald Ouellette (Tony), Brian Ouellette (Karen) and Jana Davis (Eric); his sisters, Martha Blazosky, Dorothy Laura Stockwell and Elena Zona; as well as his great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, friends and his adored cat, Elvis. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Josephine DeRose, Mary Christman, and Stella Muldoon and his beloved wife Mary Claire Granata (2016).
