Joseph "Mighty Joe" Young Obituary
Joseph A. "Mighty Joe" (Pat) Young 89 passed away July 7, 2016 at Cypress Cove Nursing Home. Joseph was born on February 13, 1927 in Deland, Florida to Lawrence W. and Frances Pearl (Workman) Young.
Joseph served in the U.S. Navy in WWII and the Korean War.
He worked for Florida Power for 35 years as Chief Electrician at the Crystal River Nuclear Plant. When he retired in 1989 he & his wife took many trips to Branson Missouri, Nashville Tennessee & Myrtle Beach, SC.
Joseph was a member of Citronelle Baptist Church.
He is survived by his Wife of 66 years, Alicia of Crystal River, Florida; his son, Larry Young & his wife, Rendy of Inglis, Florida; his daughters, Sue Hamilton & husband, Bill of Crystal River, Florida & Linda Stark & husband, Lane of Lakeland, Florida; 4 grandchildren, Scott Hamilton & wife, Donna of Citrus Springs, Jeff Young of Michigan, Lee Anne Boleware & husband, Mac of Beverly Hills, Florida & Christopher Stark of Crystal River, Florida; 8 great grandchildren, Michael Boleware & wife, Sam of Unionville, Tennessee, Austin Boleware & Kayla of Gainesville, Florida, Dillon Boleware of Inverness, Florida Justin & Dominick Boleware of Beverly Hills, Florida, Alyssa & Garrett Hamilton of Citrus Springs, Florida & Dakota Young of Grand Prarie Texas; two nieces, Cheryl Green of Inverness, Florida and Kathy Hollifield & husband, Donnie of Plant City, Florida; three nephews, J. R. Atheron & wife, Joyce of Homosassa, Florida, Tommy Atherton of Americus, Georgia, Kenny & wife, Brenda Atherton of Tarpon Springs, Florida; one sister-in-law, Arlene Atherton of Floral City, Florida.
Private cremation will take place under the direction of Brown Funeral Home and Crematory in Lecanto, FL.
There will be a Memorial Service held at Citronelle Baptist Church on Tuesday July 12, 2016 at 6:30pm.
In lieu of Flowers donations can be made to Missions of Citrus Inc. 2488 N. Pennsylvania Ave. Crystal River, Florida 34428.
