Julius Alexander Obituary
Julius Alexander, 86, of Homosassa, FL, passed away on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at Lakeland Regional Medical Center, Lakeland, Florida. A native of New Bedford, MA, he was born Aug. 13, 1929 to Julius P. and Albertina (Rose) Alexander, one of four children and served his country proudly in the U.S. Army in active duty during the Korean War Era, then for many years in the U.S. Army Reserves, attaining the rank of staff sergeant. Julius enjoyed a long sales career in the hardware and lumber industry and moved to Homosassa in 1995 from Harvard, MA. Julius was of the Roman Catholic faith and attended St. Scholastica Catholic Church in Lecanto, FL and was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Mr. Alexander is survived by his sons Dennis J. Alexander (wife Mary) and James J. Alexander (wife Melinda); stepchildren Tony Braga (wife Jeanne), John Braga (wife Sharon), Kay Braga, Gary Braga (wife Carol), Kevin Braga (wife Lou-Ann), Edythe Perry (husband George) and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Julius was preceded in death by two wives; Elva, who passed on Feb. 17, 2003 and Mary, who passed on Dec. 29, 2015; a daughter, Laurie Alexander; stepchildren Randy and Robert Braga; and his three siblings; Tony Alexander, Dorothy McKnight and Jean Caesar.
A Memorial Mass at St. Scholastica Catholic Church, Lecanto, FL will take place on Tues., May 31, 2016 at 10:00 A.M. followed by interment with military honors at 12:30 P.M. at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, Florida. Wilder Funeral Home, Homosassa, FL. www.wilderfuneral.com
