Lane Archer Lister Vick

Lane Archer Lister Vick, 77, passed away on October 18, 2015, in the care of Hospice of Gainesville, Florida, in the loving presence of her daughter, Cameron, and son, Greg.
Lane touched the lives of thousands of Citrus County children as a Special Education teacher at first Homosassa Elementary, then Crystal River Primary schools. She also served as assistant principal and principal of Citrus Springs Elementary School. She was alumni of both the University of Tennessee and the University of Florida. Her heart was with the Gators, though, and she was an avid football fan.
Lane was a woman of many talents and interests. She was a member of Crystal River United Methodist Church, where she sang with the church choir for many years. She served her community and volunteered passionately with both Junior Women and Pilot clubs, receiving the Rotary Club Paul Harris Fellow award for community leadership. She loved to work in oil painting, pastels and pen and ink to create numerous works for her personal friends and patrons. She was a member of the Citrus County Art Center.
After retirement from Citrus County Schools, Lane enjoyed developing her skills in photography, stained glass artistry and Contract Bridge. She was a writer and covered many different community stories for the Citrus County Chronicle that included her photographs to help us learn about our neighbors.
She enjoyed a wide variety of social activities. She loved her work with the Citrus County Boys & Girls Clubs as a member of the Board of Directors and as the grant writer for procuring funding. She traveled with family and friends to Alaska, Europe, the Carribean, Canada and all over the United States.
In 2013, Lane was selected by Altrusa as a Citrus County Chronicle Woman of Impact.
Left to cherish Lane's memory are her daughter, Cameron Haeseker (Thomas); her son Greg; four grandchildren, William Haeseker, Samantha Vick, Andrew Haeseker and Ethan Vick; and many, many friends.
Memorial service for Lane will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, November 28, 2015, at the Bethel Chapel on the grounds of the United Methodist Church of Crystal River, Florida, County Road 495 (North Citrus Avenue).
Expressions of sympathy and celebration may be made in honor of the family at the Boys & Girls Club of Citrus County or the Bethel Chapel Restoration at Crystal River United Methodist Church.
