Luster Coffee Obituary
Luster Coffee, 93, of Crystal River, Florida, passed away on Saturday, Nov. 19, 2016 at HPH Hospice Care Center in Brooksville, Florida. A native of Jenkins, Kentucky, he was born August 4, 1923 to Lonnie and Bessie (Wyatt) Coffee, one of four children. Mr. Coffee served his country honorably in the U.S. Army Air Corps and the U. S. Air Force during WWII as an aircraft mechanic, keeping C-130 and C-5 cargo planes in the air. Upon retiring from the U.S. Air Force as a technical sergeant after a proud 23 year career, he moved to Crystal River in 1969 from Mufreesboro, TN.
Having also earned a bachelor's degree in science from Middle Tennesse State University during the early years of his life, he became employed in the Citrus County School System as a teacher, beginning at Crystal River Middle School for a short time. He then accepted a position at Crystal River High School, teaching physics, chemistry, biology and the physical sciences; a career he enjoyed for over 20 years.
Luster was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Inverness, Florida and is survived by four children: Ann Laura Perkins (husband Ken), Brooksvlle, FL; Carol Vince (husband David), El Cajon, CA; Lisa Johnson (husband Dennis), Covington, GA and Robin Arnold (husband David), Elko, GA; four stepchildren: Ivol Caudill, Jr. (wife Franny), Toledo, OH; James Caudill, Homosassa, FL; Teresa Reed (husband Mike), Spring Hill, FL and Timothy Caudill (wife Lori), Inverness, FL; brother Roger Coffee; first wife and mother of his children Julia Ann Matthews, Brooksville, FL; eleven grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Mr. Coffee was preceded in death by his wife of 42 years, Erma Lee Coffee, on Oct. 28, 2016; a son, Aldus Luster Coffee, and sisters Katherine Shook and Ruth Evans.
Friends will be received on Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Fero Funeral Home, Beverly Hills, Florida, where a chapel service will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2016 at 10:00 A.M.
