Mrs. Adams was born September 5, 1934 in Babson Park, FL to Horace Kirby and Daisy Albritton Owens. She went to be with the Lord on August 12, 2017 at home in Inverness, FL. She has lived in Florida all her life and moved to Inverness with her husband, Dr. Babb H. Adams in 1981 from Immokalee. Mrs. Adams was a member of Christ Community Church, Lecanto; a graduate of Hillsborough High School and an accomplished musician.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and a brother, Horace Kirby Owens Jr. Marilyn lived at 1204 East McBerry Street, Tampa, FL with her parents, brothers and sister until 1953 when she married the love of her life Babb Adams. Marilyn accepted Christ at an early age. Her deepest desire was to love and serve the Lord and she did so, alongside her mother in the church nursery and music programs for many years as a young woman. In fact, she first saw Babb for the first time at church climbing out the window. After church, she asked around about this window climbing boy and decided she wanted to get to know him better. Little did she know this boy was also interested in her and they began to date. Before long, they knew they were made for each other, and were married on April 2, 1953. Marilyn and Babb were in full time ministry where he preached, and she played the piano and organ. She was a gifted and talented musician and played worship music with her whole heart. Babb would say in the beginning I may not draw a crowd, but Marilyn sure can. Babb preached, and Marilyn played piano, organ, sang, and ran VBS. She did this while raising their three children, taking care of her husband, and supporting their ministry. When Babb went into full time travelling evangelism, Marilyn continued their ministry at home, and contributed to the family income by playing piano and organ at various church and community functions. Marilyn was the wife, the mama, the family secretary, travel agent, financial officer, chef, nurse, counselor, prayer warrior, and enforcer. She loved her family well and showed them every day in every way. Marilyn would tell everyone my life is only possible through Christ who strengthens me. She believed it, she lived it, and leaves a rich inheritance in the Faith.
Survivors include her children son, Tim (Tina) Adams, Inverness; 2 daughters, Tempy (David) Henry, Winter Garden, FL and Kimberly (Jim) Bowlin, Inverness; brothers Bobby (Maryrose) Owens, Bill (Judy) Owens, Mickey (Shirley) Owens and sister Gloria Hill; a brother-In-law, Russell (Maureen) Adams; 6 grandchildren, Catheleen (John) Halfmann, Caitlyn (Hunter) Dorriety, Trae Adams, Bekkah Adams, Kalen Adams and Karina (Andrew) Sherwood; 3 great-grandchildren, MaeBeatrice Sherwood, Wynna Sherwood and Shepherd Sherwood; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
