Merritt Calvin Dyer, 88, of Inverness, Florida, went to be with our Lord on May 18, 2014. He was born in Endicott, New York, to Pearl and Arthur Dyer, formerly residents of Inverness, Florida. Merritt graduated from the Navy Hospital Corps School in 1944 and deployed as a medic to the Philippines. He moved to Inverness in 1972 to help take care of his parents. Merritt was a well-respected electrical contractor in the area for over 30 years. He was known for always having a song in his heart and a smile on his face. A friend to everyone, Merritt was a founding member of Grace Bible Church, where he was the song leader until Parkinsons took away his singing voice, but never his love of singing. To know him was to know the unconditional love of God. For his family, he was a source of pride, strength, optimism, honesty, integrity and joy.
