Mrs. Molly Jane Johnston, age 93 of Homosassa, Florida, died Saturday, January 30, 2016 in Homosassa, FL.
She was born March 4, 1922 in Newcomerstown, OH, daughter of Edson and Grace (Crouch) Stewart.
After high school she moved to Huntington, West Virginia for work, where she met her future husband, Bob. During the 1950s and 1960s they lived in Springfield, Pennsylvania where their two children were born - Rob (1950) and Pam (1952.)
In 1969 the family moved to Acton, Massachusetts where Molly worked as a bookkeeper in the local public school system. In 1984 Bob and Molly retired to Beverly Hills, Florida. Bob died at 90 in 1999.
Molly loved to sing and play the piano. She was a writer and had 2 novels published. She was passionate about small town life and that was the topic of her novels. Until well into her 80's, Molly was an enthusiastic volunteer at the Coastal Heritage Museum in Crystal River, part of the Citrus County Historical Society.
Mrs. Johnston was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Robert L. Johnston, and her older brother Edson Stewart. Survivors include her daughter, Pamela J. Cranna (husband Greig C.) of Cambridge, MA, her son, Robert L. Johnston, Jr. (wife Janika Eckert) of Albion, ME, her brother, Allen C. Stewart of Newcomerstown, OH, and 2 grandchildren, Molly Cranna of Los Angeles, CA, and Andrew Johnston of Stow, ME.
Molly's family members wish to express their deep appreciation to the entire staff of Sunflower Springs Assisted Living (Homosassa, FL) for their loving care of Molly, and for offering such kindness, support, sympathy, and comfort to Molly and her family during her residence and during our time of sorrow.
