Nancy Jo Elliott, 71, of Gainesville, Fla., passed away Sunday, Aug. 11, 2013, after a short illness. She was born Sept. 3, 1941, in Montgomery, Ala. When she was six, the family moved to Florida, and, except for a short time in Texas, Florida was her home. She met Jerry Elliott at Florida College in Temple Terrace and they finished their education at the University of Florida, where she received a BS in medical technology. They married in 1963 and recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on June 29, 2013. For almost 30 years, Nancy was the owner with her two sisters of Pete's Pier-Kings Bay Marina and Dockside Shoppes.
Nancy is survived by her husband, Jerry Elliott; daughter, Lisa Elliott; sons, Neill and Michael Elliott; grandson, Collin Elliott; sisters, Judy Clark and Susan Sexsmith; brothers-in-law, Jack Clark, Russell Elliott, Colin Elliott, and Jimmy Elliott; sisters-in-law, Sharron Bijakowski, Margaret Elliott and Anne Elliott; nine nieces; and seven nephews. She is preceded in death by her loving parents, Joe Middleton and Cleo Middleton.
The family will receive friends at Central Church of Christ, 4200 E. Silver Springs Blvd, Ocala, FL 34470, at 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 16, 2013. The service is to follow at 3 p.m., with Colin Williamson officiating. Interment will commence directly after the service at Highland Memorial Park. Arrangements are in the care of Hiers- Baxley Funeral Services, Ocala, FL. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the American Heart Association.
