Norman Gene Patton, 76, of Inverness, Fla., died Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2012, at Avante of Inverness. He was born Nov. 15, 1936 in Kenton County, Ky., the son of Harvey and Goldie Patton. He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps. Gene retired from General Motors in Norwood, Ohio. He moved to Inverness in 1987 from Warsaw, Ky. Gene was known by his friends as the man with the green hat and the million-dollar smile.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, William and Robert; and his brother Oral. He is survived by his wife of 56-and-one-half years, Betty Patton of Inverness; two sons, Norman Patton Jr. and Steven Patton (Teresa), all of Kenton Co., Ky.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
