Patricia Ann (Chartier) Perkins, age 76, of Hernando, FL, formerly of Holden, MA, passed away peacefully under the loving care of her family and Hospice of Citrus and the Nature Coast. Pat was born on May 3, 1940 in Worcester, MA to Henry and Alice (Bernard) Chartier.
Pat graduated from Sacred Heart Academy in Worcester, MA in 1957. She then entered the Order of the Sisters of Saint Joseph in Springfield, MA where she taught fifth and eighth grades for 5 years, after which, she decided to leave the order and pursue a Bachelor's degree in math from the Anna Maria College in Paxton, MA. In 1969 she received her Masters Degree in Psychology (Counseling) from the Worcester State College.
After graduation from Anna Maria, Pat worked in the Actuarial Department at Paul Revere Insurance Co. and the received an opportunity to teach Math at Burncoat Middle School. Later, Pat pursued working in the computer industry at Digital, now Hewlett Packard, for a 20 year career span.
After college, Pat and Ray were married on June 19, 1965. She was always a very nurturing mother to Stephen and Kathleen and involved with their wellbeing. She loved to entertain people and holidays were always special and planned with much care. In addition, she enjoyed decorating her home, ceramics, playing scrabble and traveling on vacations to the beach, Europe and Hawaii.
While living in Holden, Pat was a member of St. George's Church for 29 years. After moving to Florida in 1998, she became a member of St. Scholastica's Parish.
In 2015, Pat and Ray celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a cruise to the Caribbean.
Survivors include her loving family, her husband of 51 years, Raymond; son, Stephen and his wife Virginia of Chicago, IL; daughter, Kathleen of Lecanto, FL; Grandson, Ryan of Lecanto, FL, also left to cherish her memory are her brother, Robert Chartier and his wife Delores; nephews, Michael and Scott and a niece Dana all from West Long Beach, NJ.
Family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 6th from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. with a Rosary service being held at 6 p.m. at the Brown Funeral Home in Lecanto, FL. Mass will be offered at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 7th at St. Scholastica Catholic Church in Lecanto, FL. Burial will take place at a later date at the Paxton Memorial Cemetery in Paxton, MA.
In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial donations be sent to St. Scholastica Catholic Church, 4301 W. Homosassa Trail, Lecanto, FL 34461 or to Hospice of Citrus County and the Nature Coast, 3350 W. Audubon Park Path, Lecanto, FL 34461.
