Philip "Captain Flip" Warren Obituary
Philip Warren, of Homosassa, passed away on April 20, 2016 at Oak Hill Hospital in Brooksville, Florida.
He was born on December 4, 1948 to Don and Mary Warren in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. His family moved to Florida in 1955, where he developed a love for the water. He was a Vietnam veteran having served in the 101st Airborne Division (U.S. Army) as a helicopter mechanic. He worked several years as a surveyor, and then worked as a tow truck driver for Dave's Body shop for 35 years.
He loved racing and raced his own car for 10 years in both Inverness and Ocala. He loved the saltwater and his favorite thing to do was fishing. He also enjoyed diving, spear fishing and scalloping. Often he would just go out on the boat to enjoy the scenery and the peace that he found there. The water was his happy place. He also was very creative; he did amazing things with glass sandblasting, wood carving and photography.
He was the oldest of 7 children and was the patriarch of the family after they lost their parents to an accident in 1992. He was the go to person who was always there when someone needed him. He was an amazing brother and friend. He loved deeply and was deeply loved. He will be missed!!
He was preceded in death by his parents, Don and Mary Warren; his sister, Cheryl Warren; and his niece Amanda Warren. He is survived by one son, Steven Warren of Homosassa; 3 brothers: Dave (Janice) Warren of Crystal River; Sam (Jan) Warren of Donaldsonville, Georgia; Matthew Travis Warren of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida; 2 sisters: Diane Magill of Crystal River; and Donna Bishop of Homosassa, and several nieces and nephews.
Private arrangements under the care of the Chas. E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness, FL.
