Eugene was born on January 2, 1961 in Hammond, IN to Shela Darlene (Earheart) and the late Jimmy Eugene Nix. As a child he attended nursery school in Gary, IN and went on to attend classes at the Little Red Schoolhouse in Crown Point, IN. Eugene was involved in many activities including the Key Center Bowling League and the Special Olympics. He and his family were members of F.F.R.A. - Family and Friends Reaching Beyond Disability. Eugene loved dogs and greatly enjoyed the affection and kindness they showed to him. He also enjoyed eating spaghetti and had a special Batman necklace that he was very fond of and was the first thing he put on when he arrived home each day. Eugene also was a loyal and devoted viewer of the CBS television network and enjoyed watching television while he colored. Eugene was so very special to his family and they often called him by his nickname of "Blu". He touched so many peoples lives over the years, all without speaking a word.
