Raymond "Pete" Powell Obituary
Raymond "Pete" Powell, died at his Citrus Springs home on January 13, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. He was 85 years of age. Pete was born on June 4, 1930 in Columbus, OH to the late Graden and Cora (Betts) Powell. In 1997, Pete relocated to the
Citrus County area from Reynoldsburg, OH. In 2000, he married Donna Ryll, with whom he shared over 15 years of marriage. Pete served his country as a member of the United States Army. After his military service, he was employed as a commercial freight truck driver. A Lutheran by faith, Pete was a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Hernando. While living in Ohio, he was a member of the Shriner's, Eagles, VFW Cooties and the Ralph R. Rickly Masonic Lodge #670. Pete was also a member of the Citrus Springs VFW Lodge #4864. In his spare time he enjoyed a good game of golf and painting.
Those left to cherish his memory and mourn his passing are his loving wife Donna; one son, Raymond "Larry" (Marsha) Powell of Baltimore, OH; two daughters, Deborah Shell of Dayton, OH and Amanda Warner of Cataba, OH; step-son, Donald Ryll, Pickerington, OH; step daughters: Dianna (Donald) Johnson, Columbia, TN, Julie (Brian) Strohm, Reynoldsburg, OH and Janet (Robert) Pence, Westchester, OH; grandchildren: Catherine, Elizabeth, Tabitha, Cody, Alexis, Matthew, Alex, Rachel, Ashley, Jeremy, Jason, Reece, Trevor, Marley and Timothy; and three great-grandchildren, Caroline, Charlie, Lillian. Pete was preceded in death by his daughter, Tobie; and brother, Harry.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Hernando, on Wednesday, January 27, 2016 at 10:00 AM with Reverend Kenneth Blyth officiating. Inurnment at the Florida National Cemetery will follow at 1:30 PM with full military honors rendered by the Citrus Springs VFW Post #4864 Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 439 E. Norvell Bryant Hwy., Hernando, FL 34442. The Chas E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory is assisting the family with arrangements.
