Richard A. McNeece Obituary
Richard A. McNeece, aged 77, of Citrus Hills, FL, passed away after a long, valiant fight against bladder cancer on June 19, 2016. He is survived by his loving wife Mary (Hengeveld) McNeece; his daughters Pamela M. (Christopher) Mottram of Avondale Estates, GA and Susan R. McNeece of Oakland, CA; and his grandchildren Stephen R. Mottram and Sarah E. Mottram. Rick was born March 6, 1939 in West Palm Beach, FL to Richard H. and Ruth L. (Raulerson) McNeece. He was proud to be a 6th generation Florida native, as indicated by his Florida Pioneer Descendant FSGS certificate, and was a member of a Fort Lauderdale Pioneer Family. He served in both the U.S. Army National Guard and the U.S. Army Reserves.
After receiving both his BSBA and MBA from the University of Florida, he began his banking career in North Carolina and continued it in Louisiana. He served as Chairman and CEO of First National Bancorp in Gainesville, GA before it merged with a larger Southeastern regional bank. He finished out his banking career as regional president for a major Midwest regional bank and retired in Grand Rapids, MI.
After spending a number of winters in Citrus County, he and his wife Mary became full-time Florida residents in 2014. For several years after retirement Rick was a leadership and team-building consultant and served as Senior Warden of his former church. He loved cycling, motorcycle travel and engaging with others. A memorial to celebrate his life will be held on Friday, July 1, 2016, at 10 AM at Shepherd of the Hills Episcopal Church. His ashes will be interred privately in Lauderdale Memorial Park, Fort Lauderdale, FL. Arrangements by Hooper Funeral Homes & Crematory, Inverness, FL.
