Richard O. Westphal Obituary
Mr. Richard O. Westphal, age 96 of Beverly Hills, Florida, died Sunday, January 17, 2016 in Beverly Hills, FL. He was born April 23, 1919 in Plentywood, MT, son of Amos and Clara (Ogden) Westphal. Mr. Westphal was an Army veteran serving with the 120th Engineers 45th Division during World War II, the Korean War and Vietnam, where he was awarded the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. He retired after 30 years of service with a rank of Major. He moved to Beverly Hills from Victorville, CA in 2014. Mr. Westphal was a member of the Military Officers Association of America, Mojave Desert Chapter, Victorville, CA. After the Army he obtained his Bachelors degree and taught school to special needs children. He built two houses and was a seeker of knowledge ranging from history, to learning how to sew.
Mr. Westphal was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Toni Westphal, brother, George Westphal and granddaughter, Megan Morley Whitney. Survivors include wife, Lois May Westphal of Beverly Hills, son, Scott Westphal of TX, 3 daughters, Lyn Westphal of TX, Sally Morley of NV and Linda Tracey of Beverly Hills, 2 grandchildren, Corey (Katie) Morley, Jr. of NV and Vanessa Jones of FL, 3 great grandchildren, Katie Whitney Morley of NV, Jack Carrier of NV, Dorian McGinness of FL and Tristan McGinness of FL.
