Richard Stimpfl Obituary
Richard J. Stimpfl, 86, of Inverness, Florida died on Friday, February 17, 2017 at Hospice of Citrus and the Nature Coast. He was born in Mineola, New York on Friday, November 14, 1930 to Richard and Anna (Kobetitsch) Stimpfl.
Richard spent most of his life in Brooklyn and Long Island. He received a degree in chemical engineering from Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn and a masters degree in chemical engineering from New York University. Richard was vice president of international marketing for WITCO Corporation and was a director of the Mexican and Indian affiliates. He was director of the Rockville Centre, New York Housing Authority and active in it's urban renewal program in the 1960's. Richard retired in 1994 and moved to Citrus Hills with his wife, Theresa in 1996.
Richard was of the Catholic faith and a member of St. Scholastica Roman Catholic Church. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #14485, where he was a 4th degree Knight. He was the secretary of Cambridge Greens Property Owner's Association and a director of Citrus County Historical Society and editor of its newsletter, 'At Home'. Richard and his wife are members of the American Irish Club in Lecanto and the West Citrus Elks Club. He and his wife were avid sailors and won several trophies racing their boat at Hempstead Bay Sailing Club in Island Park, New York, where Richard was a flag officer. In addition, he was a member of the East Rockaway Yacht Club on Long Island.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Theresa; daughters, Kathryn (John) Maguire of Malverne, New York and Ann Stimpfl of Sarasota, Florida; sons, Richard (Robin) of Rockville Centre, New York and Paul (Marykay) of Redondo Beach, California; brother, Robert Stimpfl of Ardsley, New York; sister, Marguerite dePoto of Malverne, New York; three granddaughters, two grandsons, three great granddaughters and a new great grandson, born on February 11, 2017.
Visitation, Monday, February 20, 2017 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Fero Funeral Home. Funeral Mass, Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at 10:00 AM at St. Scholastica Roman Catholic Church. Inurnment will be private at Fero Memorial Gardens.
