Robert Stewart Obituary
Robert Nolen Stewart, 75, of Homosassa, FL, passed away Sunday, June 5, 2016 in Lecanto, FL. He was born October 27, 1940 in Jacksonville, FL, son of Robert William and Margaret (Nolen) Stewart. He moved to Homosassa, FL from Palm Beach Gardens, FL in 2002.
Mr. Stewart was a scholarship athlete who lettered in swimming at the University of Florida where he earned his bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering in 1962. He was also a member of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. After graduation, he worked for Florida Power Corporation in St. Petersburg, FL and Lake Wales, FL until 1968. In 1968, he moved to Palm Beach Gardens, FL and opened the Nag's Head Pub / Fitzgerald's restaurant in West Palm Beach, FL, which he owned and operated with his longtime friend and business partner, Jon C. Schmid, for the next 13 years.
He subsequently earned his real estate broker's license and worked for Touchstone Webb in West Palm Beach, FL.
He continued in real estate and other entrepreneurial pursuits for the remainder of his life.
Mr. Stewart was an Eagle Scout and an avid University of Florida Gators and Miami Dolphins fan.
He was a quick-witted, dedicated, loving, and loyal friend, son, brother, father, grandfather, nephew, uncle, and cousin. Mr. Stewart was preceded in death by his parents and his grandson, Jack Vincent Marzano.
Survivors include son, Robert Lawrence Stewart of Milton, GA, daughter, Amy (Vincent) Marzano of Pensacola, FL, 2 sisters: Monnie Moore of St. Petersburg, FL, and Martha L. Stewart of Homosassa, FL, and 3 grandchildren, Robert William Stewart, Wyatt Lee Stewart and Katherine Eileen Stewart.
In lieu of flowers, Mr. Stewart requested that donations be made to the Boy Scouts of America and The Humane Society.
