Ronald Fisher Obituary
Ronald Ray Fisher, 98, died Sat., Feb. 10, 2018 at his home in Sugarmill Woods, Homosassa, FL.
Born June 8, 1919 near Knox, PA, he was a son of the late Elgar E. and Maude (Mong) Fisher. Ray lived in Shippenville, Emlenton, Pittsburgh and Mars, PA and in Winterhaven, FL before moving to Sugarmill Woods in 1985.
He retired in 1980 from Conrail Railroad. He had worked for Conrail and its predecessors, the Pennsylvania Railroad and the Penn Central Railroad, for 40 years. He was a World War II Army veteran who served in the 770th Railway Operation Battalion, Company C, from 1944 to 1946.
He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Homosassa and the American Legion Post #155 of Crystal River, FL and recently celebrated his 71st year with the American Legion.
In addition to his wife, Mary Lou Fisher, he is survived by twin daughters Diane Rapacchietta of San Jose, CA and Denise Fisher of Mechanicsburg, PA; three grandchildren: Andrea, Ryan and Ian Rapacchietta; three great grandchildren: Samantha Navarro, Veronica Navarro and Madison Rapacchietta; two sisters: JoAnn Shaner of Denver, CO and Jean Smith of Colorado Springs, CO. He is also survived by three stepchildren and five stepgrandchildren.
Ray was preceded in death by his first wife, Dorothy Ross Fisher; grandson Brian Rapacchietta; sisters Ruth Miller and Janet Fisher and brothers Wayne and Jack Fisher. No viewing or funeral service will be held in Florida.
His ashes will be interred in the Emlenton Cemetery, Emlenton, PA. Wilder Funeral Home, Homosassa and Christopher M. Hile Funeral Home, Emlenton, PA will be in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made, in lieu of flowers, to Hospice of Citrus and the Nature Coast, P.O. Box 641270, Beverly Hills, FL 34464 in remembrance of Ray. www.
