Sarah Allen Obituary

Sarah McCall Boles Allen passed on the morning of Sunday the 9th of July, 2017 at 97 years of age. Sarah is survived by extended family, many friends, and more than a dozen children that she helped raise.
Sarah was born on Oct 18, 1919 in Dunnellon Florida. She was the oldest of three children, Sarah, Aleck, and Aretha, now all deceased. Sarah was married 7 times through the years, and though she never had children of her own, she helped raise 15 children across 5 families.
Sarah's individuality and strong will became evident when she left home at the age of 13. Though curious and outspoken, she always favored a clear mind. She never smoked or drank alcohol, and never avoided a hard day's work. It was not far into Sarah's spirited, and at times, misguided youth, that she found Jesus and developed an unwavering love for the Lord and the teachings of the Baptist faith.
The first half of Sarah's life was spent working in tomato fields in the Southern United States. In her early 40s, Sarah left the fields behind to work as a nanny, which proved to be one of her most proud accomplishments. During the next 40 years, she worked with 5 different families until she retired at 80.
Sarah's impact was felt, not only by the children she helped raise, but by the families and the communities she lived in. Sarah's unlimited and uncut honesty, combined with her ability to tell a story made her an absolutely irresistible friend. Sarah's strength and wisdom helped entire families, across multiple generations, cope with life's challenges, and occasionally they learned to laugh at themselves just as Sarah did best.
Her sincere love and appreciation for life was infectious to all that she came in contact with, and it was that same zest that powered her to achieve 97 years of love, laughter and tears (but mostly love and laughter). Sarah's adventurous yet graceful approach to life will be remembered through the vivid "Sarah Stories" now shared by 3 living generations.
Satisfied with her life, Sarah passed away peacefully at the Ft. Myers Rehabilitation Center in
Ft. Myers Florida surrounded by friends and extended family.
Her loved ones, and all those wishing to attend, will be celebrating Sarah's life at Second Chance Universal Ministry Inc., 1648 Palmetto Ave, Ft. Myers, Florida 33916 on Saturday, July 15 at 11 a.m. There will be a short service followed by a reception to share "Sarah Stories."
Services entrusted to Hickson Funeral Home Inc., 3308 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., Ft. Myers, Florida 334-6440. Send condolences via www.hicksonfunerahome.com.
