Sherri (Buchanan) Soluri Obituary
Sherri Buchanan Soluri returned to her heavenly home on January 13, 2017 after a valiant battle with cancer. Her devotion to her family, her community, and her firm belief in the saving grace of our Lord supported her in her struggle and ultimately gave her peace.
Sherri is survived by her husband of 43 years David; her daughter Kymberly Druga and her husband Mike and their children Jacob (6) and Jillian (3); her son Brian Soluri and his wife Shanna and their son Ethan (4); her brother Tim Buchanan and his wife Linda; and her sister Lauri Andrews and her husband Andy; as well her great Aunt Arlene Clausen, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Sherri was born to the late Ray & Donna Buchanan, an engineer and a refracting optician respectively both missionaries after retirement, in Denver, Colorado on March 30, 1953. She moved to Florida shortly after and graduated from Melbourne High School in Melbourne, FL. She was an active member of Girl Scouts of America throughout her youth and became a leader once her daughter was of age. Also while in high school she was a member of the marching band where she met her husband, David in 10th grade. She was also active in her church and was immersed in the Christian community. In 1973 she married David and together they attended The University of Central Florida where she graduated in 1978 with a Bachelors of Arts in Education. She began teaching math at Crystal River Middle School in 1979 and transferred to Lecanto High School in 2003. She remained a teacher in Citrus County until August of 2016. During her time teaching she touched thousands of lives, teaching in some cases multiple generations of the same families. She was invaluable to the school system as a teacher, a colleague, and mentor.
Sherri loved her family and she loved the Lord. One of her favorite titles was Grandma and she doted on her three grandchildren. She supported her community and her church and her impact was abounding. She will be missed by anyone who ever had the pleasure of meeting her.
Private cremation is under the direction of Brown Funeral Home & Crematory in Lecanto, FL.
A funeral is scheduled for January 21st at 2:24 PM at Rock Crusher Church of God in Crystal River. Pastor Michael Chambliss will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome and encouraged to attend and celebrate Sherri's life and legacy. The family will be accepting visitors beginning at 2:00. A private graveside service will follow. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Hospice of Citrus & the Nature Coast in Sherri's name.
