Mr. Thomas Robert Hamburg, 75 of Lecanto, was born March 25, 1940 in Hoboken, NJ, and was the son of the late Louis and Margaret (Cudahy) Hamburg. He died March 12, 2016 in Lecanto, FL. Mr. Hamburg was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving during Vietnam. He retired as a mechanic for Jersey Central Power and Light. He moved to Lecanto after living in Point Pleasant, NJ for many years. Mr. Hamburg was the Past Exalted Ruler of both the West Citrus Elks Lodge #2693 BPOE and the Point Pleasant Elks Lodge #1698 BPOE. While in Point Pleasant, Mr. Hamburg served as the Fire Chief of the Point Pleasant Fire Company #2 and was a charter member of the Point Pleasant Borough First Aid.
In addition he was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, the Beverly Hills Fishing Club and the Crystal Oaks Civic Association. Survivors include wife, Susan Hamburg of Lecanto, FL, 2 daughters, Jennifer Gilmore and her husband Bradly of Etters, PA, and Cristin Hamburg of Saint Petersburg, FL along with 2 grandchildren, his "big pal" Emily and his "little pal" Brayden.
The Graveside Service of Remembrance, with Military Honors for Mr. Hamburg will be held on Friday, April 1, 2016 at 10:00 a. m. at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL. A Celebration of Life, with Elks Service will be held on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. at the West Citrus Elks Lodge in Homosassa, FL. The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations in Mr. Hamburg's memory to the Hospice of Citrus & the Nature Coast, P. O.
