Mrs. Virginia L. "Ginny" Collis Obituary
The Service of Remembrance for Mrs. Virginia "Ginny" L. Collis, age 70, of Inverness, Florida, will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 10, 2016 at the Inverness Chapel of Hooper Funeral Homes with Father Eugene Reuman officiating. Inurnment, with family only, will take place at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., Monday at the Chapel. The family requests expressions of sympathy take the form of memorial donations to Hospice of Citrus County, P.O. Box 641270, Beverly Hills, FL 34464. Ginny was born December 21, 1945 in Hillsboro, IL, daughter of Robert and Audrey (Davis) Mallory. She died September 28, 2016 in Lecanto, FL. She worked as an elementary school teacher for the Argenta-Oreana school district in Illinois and was a member of the National Education Association (NEA). She moved to Inverness, Florida from Citrus Springs in 2015. Mrs. Collis enjoyed reading, knitting, sewing, watching British TV Mystery Shows, going out to dinner, and RV travel with her husband James, having visited all 49 states, Canada, Mexico, plus a trip to Hawaii. According to her family she was an outgoing, gregarious person, and all who met her liked her. Mrs. Collis was a member of St. Margaret's Episcopal Church, Inverness.
Mrs. Collis was preceded in death by her mother, Audrey Mallory. Survivors include her loving husband of 23 years, James Collis of Inverness, FL; three sons: David Card of Athens, GA, Thomas (Stephanie) Card of Chappaqua, NY, William Hall of Spring Hill, FL; father, Robert Mallory of Cedar Rapids, IA; brother, Roger Mallory of Maroa, IL; five sisters: Brenda Creviston of LaPlace, IL, Sheila Bullard of Lubbock, TX, Mary Purcell of Hillsboro, IL, Cecilia Ann Roehrkasse of Hiawatha, IA, Phyllis Hill of Goodyear, AZ; and four grandchildren: Sage, Riley, Sophie, and Bailey. Arrangements are under the direction of the Hooper Funeral Homes & Crematory.
