Voncile "Nanny" Spinelli Obituary
Voncile J. "Nanny" Spinelli, age 87, of Inverness, died September 9, 2016 at Citrus Memorial Hospital. Voncile was born on January 3, 1929 in Avon Park, FL to the late Ernest James and Viola (Byrd) Johns. A lifelong resident of Florida, she moved to Citrus County 36 years ago after relocating from St. Petersburg. On July 21, 1985, she married Pasquale Spinelli with whom she shared 31 years of marriage. A Baptist by faith, she attended services at Gulf to Lake Church in Crystal River.
Voncile was employed as a hairdresser throughout her life and had been a volunteer at Citrus Memorial Hospital. She enjoyed gambling at the Seminole Hard Rock Casino in Tampa and had visited casinos in Biloxi and Las Vegas. Voncile greatly enjoyed travel but, her true love was for her family and spending time with them. She would invite family to come and visit her and have as many of them over to her house as she could possibly fit. Voncile also had a great love of God and the Lord Jesus Christ.
In addition to her husband, Pasquale, those left to mourn Voncile's passing are her daughters: Roxanne Thompson of Inverness, FL, Bettie Justice and her husband Bryan of Maryville, TN, and Debbie Harris and her husband Chuck of St. Petersburg, FL; brother, Donald Johns of Cottondale, FL; grandchildren: Robert Shea, Jennifer Nelson, Fred Izzo, David Schomas and Melisa McDowell; 7 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Voncile was preceded in death by her first husband, Eugene Lee Thompson in 2005, and 4 brothers. The family would like to acknowledge and send special thanks to Jerry Johns and Jill Liebers for their love and support. A Funeral Service of Remembrance will take place on Wednesday, September 14, 2016 at 11:00 AM from the Chas E. Davis Funeral Home with Crematory, Inverness. Friends are invited to call at the funeral home beginning at 10:00 AM on the date of the service. Voncile will be laid to rest at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell following the service.
