William "Pop" Hall Obituary
William Loring "Pop" Hall, 101, of Crystal River, died peacefully at his home on Monday December 21, 2015. He was born December 3, 1914 in Abbeville, AL as the youngest son of a family of 13. In 1940 he moved to St. Petersburg, FL where he began establishing a chain of retail appliance stores. He was united in marriage to his beloved wife Irene Burnham, a union which lasted 63 years until her passing in 2005. He retired to Crystal River, FL where he and his son-in-law, Lester White, operated Hall-White Appliances.
He and Jack Varnadoe, his business partner, enjoyed buying and selling property in Citrus County for many years. He was a member of Fifth Avenue Baptist Church of St. Petersburg, FL and First Baptist Church of Crystal River where he served as a trustee.
Pop was a very generous man and was honored to be a Mason and a Shriner, a gregarious sort who loved to meet and help others. His old time stories and advice were savored by friends and family and will be greatly missed. He is survived by his children; Emily Cook of Winter Park, FL, Evelyn Bradley (Steve) of Birmingham, AL and Glenn Hall (Cheryl) of Sarasota, FL.
He had 5 granddaughters who he loved to brag about, they include; Molly Redrick (Stuart) of Crystal River, Jenny Lee (Mike) of Atlantic Beach, FL, Hallie Fincher (T.J.) of Birmingham, AL, Sarah Bales (Mark) of Birmingham, AL and Katie Hall of Orlando, FL. He was proud to be the great grandfather of 10. Graveside services will be held on December 27th in Dothan, AL. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial donation to the , Office of Development, 2900 N. Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL 33607. Strickland Funeral Home of Crystal River assisted the family with arrangements.
