Wilma Leins Obituary
Mrs. Wilma Leins, age 85, of Inverness, FL, died Monday, November 5, 2015, of lymphoma at her home under the care of her loving daughters and Hospice of Citrus and the Nature Coast.
Wilma was born Juliana Wilhelmina Bopp in Freinsheim, Germany, on May 12, 1930, survived WWII and emigrated to New York City in 1950, to reside with her sister, Helen. Wilma pursued a career in dressmaking and design.
She married Anton Leins on December 29, 1951, and they began a journey of 63 devoted years together. Their careers took them to Rochester, NY, in 1957, where they raised their girls and built their home in Pittsford, NY. Wilma urged Tony to take an early retirement and they moved to Inverness to be near their immediate family. They made many friends and truly embraced their retirement years, enjoying travel, palm trees, sunshine and long walks.
Wilma leaves her life partner, Anton, as well as devoted daughters, Audrey and Diane. In addition, she is survived by a niece, Edeltraud Coledan of Germany, cousins, Eddy and Elfie Mess of Canada and two cherished confidants, Chrystal Joehler and Linda Cebel. She also leaves a classmate, Helma Weiler, with whom she shared an 80-year friendship.
A Service of Remembrance to celebrate Wilma's life will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, November 19, 2015, at the Inverness Chapel of Hooper Funeral Homes, with Chaplain Daniel Lyman officiating. Online condolences may be sent to the family at www.HooperFuneralHome.com.
