Joseph Mechell, 85, of Spring Hill, Fla., and formerly of Homosassa, passed away Jan. 27, 2014, at Cypress Cove Care Center. A native of Claymont, Del., he was born March 19, 1928, to Jack and Mary (Kopko) Mechell, one of two children. Mr. Michell was traffic sign manufacturer originally with the State of Delaware, then became the owner and operator of Signs Uniform Traffic Control, Inc. of Wilmington, Del. Joe was a parishioner of St. Thomas The Apostle Catholic Church, Homosassa and because he loved to dance, he was known to many as "Dancing Joe".

Mr. Mechell is survived by his sister-in-law, Helen Mechell; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Donald and Mary Sellers; and his friend, Nancy Kedroski. He was preceded in death by his wife, Leah Agnes Mechell and a brother, James Mechell.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 12, 2014, at St. Thomas The Apostle Catholic Church, Homosassa, with Fr. Ronald Marecki, celebrant.
