Gene E. McCaffrey, of Homosassa, Fla., was born Nov. 6, 1933, and died Feb. 16, 2014. Originally from New York, she was a longtime resident of Riverhaven Village in Homosassa. Gene was a devoted parishioner of St. Benedict's Catholic Church and a longtime volunteer with Hospice of Citrus and the Nature Coast.

Gene is survived by her daughter, Christina Cammarata; son, Thomas Graves (Terrence McGivney); daughter-in-law, Louise Graves; stepson, Richard McCaffrey (Rose); brother, Leonard Peluso (Thelma); grandchildren, Stacey Cammarata, Shannon Massengill, Kenneth Graves and Steven, Douglas, Richard Jr. and Michelle McCaffrey; and great-grandchildren, Brian Cammarata, Christopher Torres, Gregory and Eriq Peete; and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. McCaffrey was predeceased by her husband, Edwin McCaffrey and her son, Michael Graves.
Friends will be received Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2014, at Wilder Funeral Home from 1 to 3 and 5 to 7 p.m., where a prayer service will take place at 7 p.m., with Fr. Ryszard Stradomski officiating. Interment will take place 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 20, 2014 at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell. In lieu of flowers, Gene's family requests that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Citrus and the Nature Coast, P.O. Box 641270, Beverly Hills, FL 34464.
