The Service of Remembrance for Mr. Jack B. Overholser, age 79, of Lecanto, Florida, will be held 2:00 PM, Thursday, May 29, 2014 at the Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL. The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until Noon, Thursday at the Homosassa Chapel of Hooper Funeral Homes. Jack was born December 1, 1934 in West Palm Beach, FL, son of the late Daryl and June (Baker) Overholser. He died May 25, 2014 in Lecanto, FL. Mr. Overholser was an Army veteran and worked as a self employed building contractor for 22 years and then for U. S. Geological Survey, retiring in 2000 and moving to Lecanto from Hialeah. He was an avid sportsman hunter and loved nature, especially the Everglades. Mr. Overholser was a member of the National Rifle Association and Boy Scout Leader for Troop 302, Hialeah.
Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Eileen Overholser of Lecanto, son, Jack B. Overholser, Jr. of Gallatin, TN, 3 daughters, Merry Overholser of Salisbury, NC, Debbie Overholser Donhue of West Palm Beach and Laurie Overholser Baad of Coconut Grove, 2 step-brothers, Michael and Patrick Hancock, and sister, Lynn Overholser, all of Fort Lauderdale, 10 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
